Release: April 2012

In this evenings release we’re very excited to provide you with the first step of supporting one of our most popular feature requests: tags on line items in our Sales and Purchases screens. As previously announced, our new plans also take effect with this release.

Invoice Tags at Line-Item Level
You’ll notice on the Sales and Purchases screens a new column, “Tags”, available for each line item. This allows you to allocate costs (on purchases) or income (on sales) to various jobs, divisions, people, projects or other uses you have for Tagging in Saasu.

You can enter up to five Tags per line item by simply entering them in the column, which will expand as shown to reveal all Tags in use for that line item. If the Tag already exists, it will display in the drop-down list and by typing any characters into the column, Saasu will search the Tag list and present a list of matches to choose from.

If required the hot key to open the Tag List before typing anything is the down arrow.

Full API Support is also provided allowing add-ons to Saasu to take advantage of this feature – the API will allow creation of and retrieval of Tags at each line item on the invoice.

When you import and export transactions to and from Saasu, these new tags will carry through.

Please note that due to the size of this project we’ve taken a phased approach to this new Tags feature. This means that you can start recording and capturing the tags for your transactions now for future reporting. In coming releases we will update the Reports area to start working with these tags. The aim being to have the important reports covered by the end of the quarter. We know you may want to start updating your data in preparation so we have taken this initial step to allow this.

We will continue to allow Tags to be applied at the entire transaction level – any Tags entered this way will apply to all line items in the transaction.

Performance Enhancements

We’ve improved the performance of Saasu for large files so that for example the performance of reports such as the Aged Receivables Report have improved.

iPhone Application

Changes have been made that were affecting Saasu iPhone application functionality for some users.

Plan Changes

The new plans are now in effect so that any changes to your subscription are now supported by these new plans.

Downgrades are now supported as part of these plan changes. You can downgrade provided that:

  • the average number of transactions for the life of your file is less than the number of transactions provided by the plan you are downgrading to
  • you are not using the functionality that isn’t available on the downgraded plan.  For example you will be asked to make employees inactive if you downgrade to a plan that does not support Saasu Payroll. Please refer to our new plans for more information.

It would be great if TAGS set at Customer and Supplier Contact level automatically defaulted to sales and purchase transactions.
e.g. Customers could be allocated/tagged a Sales Region. All sales/items sold to them would be automatically tagged accordingly by default …..with no additional manual data entry!!!!!

    What a powerful tool!!!!

    Hi Gae,
The Stock Location advanced inventory feature (available on our Large Plan) uses an inventory attribute to record Stock Location. This is a separate feature to tags at line-item level on invoices. Stock Location Reporting is available using the Attribute History Report in Saasu.

There are lots of different ways to use tags on line-items. You might find that particular usage works for your particular situation.

Can this new tag per line be used when the same item goes to different locations. Then a report would show stock by location.?

    Hi Drew and Tristan,
An update was done about 15 minutes after your comments so it should be sorted now.
    Apologies for the inconvenience.

Some errors today folks and very slow performance. Trying to add payroll “The underlying provider failed on open”, and invoices have lost our logo.

    Hi Mike,

Say you’re a photographer and have an expense for $100 for a digital photo prints. 7 photo’s for one client and 3 photo’s for another. Thus you may want to allocate $70 to a tag called “Job 1″ and the second line in the expense might be for $30 with tag “Job 2″.

Later when you run a Profit and Loss report you can filter it for the Tag “Job 1″ and find out all the income and expenses related to that job and see if it made a profit or not.

    Hi Mal,

The performance issue was temporary and was resolved. You shouldn’t be seeing an issue now. Let us know via the service desk if you are. It was a problem with some browsers cache not updating. It wasn’t picked up in testing even though we do test for this issue. We do a lot of testing, more than most people would appreciate. We have around 3,000 tests run every 4 week release cycle.

Hi Tony The system is so slow this morning it is unworkable and we have just reported an error which occurred when trying to save a ‘purchase’. What testing do you do before going live with system upgrades?

Wow great news about the tags , and the API access. It will be interesting to see what the community develop for their clients with such a powerful tool. Keep up the good work.
