Saasu is different. We listen to customers. We love our customers, so when they tell us something emotionally and in significant numbers we know it really means something to them. We take that on ourselves as people and as a company. The theme of our conversations via phone, email and blog last week was that, in general, customers want the ability to downgrade where they felt they don’t use the features of the plan they are currently on.
With hindsight we would have worked this into our systems handling, but when we statistically looked at the numbers it wasn’t many that would qualify. That’s bad, and not in our values. We pride ourselves on the values that customers matter and fanatical value. So again, in hindsight, I think the decision not to allow downgrades missed meeting these values for the people that it does affect. If you are one of them you are just as important a customer to us as all the others.
So in light of this we will allow downgrades.
On the 3rd of April, when price changes take effect, you will be able to select a lower plan. Saasu will warn you if you don’t meet the plan limits. The rule is simply if you are under the transaction volume limit (measured as total transactions divided by duration of your subscription) and you don’t use the features of the higher plan then the system will let you downgrade.
Enjoy the savings.
Marc Lehmann,
CEO Saasu.
Hi Russ. You can always access your data. You do need to be on a plan for the features you use though. Entering, viewing, printing, emailing and even electronic payroll reports (e.g. to the ATO from Saasu generated files) are all parts of using Saasu and your data as a complete service offering. Hope you can see it from this perspective.
Just like to pre-warn SAASU customers who downgrade – you will no longer be able to access historical data or print the reports required by the ATO. This is a serious mistake by SAASU who seem to think that if we no longer need a feature – ie payroll – then we no longer need to access hisorical information. The solution should be quite simple to allow access to historcal reports but prevent addtion of further transactions?
Thanks, We’re human just like our customers. Have ears, will listen
Thanks for the humble post, Marc. Its refreshing to see companies that actually listen to their customers. Great software by the way. Keep up the good work.
Hi Colin,
We are still offering the 12 months for the price of 11 months. So Extra Small XS plan will be $99 per year. The system will let you downgrade if you are under transaction limits on average since you started your file.
Hi Marc
What the changes mean is I will be paying $99 instead of $275 a year, if I stay with Saasu. I understand this may mean I will not have access to my previous transactions (but I will be saving $176 each year or 64% exactly). Also, I don’t recall seeing any information in the announcement about paying yearly will receive a month free.
Hi Colin,
It will be $385 per year as we give you a month free and if you renew before 3 April you delay that price change for another year. So 1st year = $275 and 2nd year = $385. This is $330 p.a. for two years (an extra $55 each year or 20% exactly).
The Downgrade Allowed makes little difference to single employee company who makes use of the payroll function once a quarter. Thanks, but I will need to look elsewhere. $275 a year on the old rate against $420 on the new rate is not a $10 a month rise, it is actually a 52% increase.
We very much appreciate this feedback everyone, thank you very much.
Thanks Sassu, much appreciated. I think most of us can see that we’re all human beings running small businesses & startups, Saasu included – we all make mistakes, but it’s the way they’re handled that matters. We can’t always be right all the time, so when we’re not, we just try to do the best thing for our clients, which you’ve exemplified
Great news Marc & i am over whelmed at the speed of this rapid and enthusiastic response – well done to you & your team for delivering a fantastic reliable product, year in, year out, and most importantly to listening to customer feedback.
This is the primary reason I went with Saasu in the first place, and also means I will continue with Saasu as my business grows into multiple files (hopefully soon
Well done and keep up the great work & community approach to this excellent platform.
Chris
This is fantastic news Marc. I think you guys have made a great decision by allowing downgrades and I’m sure this will keep a lot of people happy.
Thanks for listening!
We all make mistakes, its how you handle them that makes the difference. Saasu has now handled this very well. Congrats, and keep up the good work.
