Shoes of Prey is an online retailer creating real buzz in Australia and overseas for their custom designed shoes. One of the Shoes of Prey Founders, Jodie Fox, has also been named in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2011. Recently we spent some time talking with Shoes of Prey COO, Michael Fox, to talk about how they use Saasu and why it has been an integral part of their business success.
Saasu was recommended by a friend at another startup who is really happy using their product. Their software is web based so we’re able to use the software from any computer. We like the idea of ‘software as a service’ or ‘cloud computing’ and want to operate as much of our business online as possible.
Their API is excellent and we’ve been able to easily integrate Saasu with our websites to automatically track our sales for our 2 online retail businesses – Shoes of Prey selling custom women’s shoes and Sneaking Duck selling prescription glasses.
Saasu has been around since the late 90′s and their business is growing so they’re likely to be around for quite some time. It also helps that their pricing is reasonable.

With 60% of our sales coming from customers outside Australia, in currencies other than Australian dollars, Saasu’s multi-currency functionality makes it easy to capture, track and report on these sales.
We employ 18 people at Shoes of Prey and Sneaking Duck and do millions of dollars in sales annually and Saasu allows me to manage all our accounting and bookkeeping in only a couple of hours per week. Our next step is to hire a PA/Office Manager to take on our bookkeeping work as part of their role. Saasu is easy to use so it will be simple to train them, even if they don’t have bookkeeping experience.
